The School of Fashion & the Arts Scholarship Program

It is with great pleasure that the school’s founders launch the SoFA Scholarship Program. This program aims to allow talented Filipinos from around the country to hone their creative skills in the best possible creative learning environment. It is through the scholarship that SoFA is able to extend its vision to individuals without the full capacity to obtain a proper fashion education.

The SoFA Scholarship may be applied to the following programs:

1. 4 YEAR BACHELORS DEGREE IN FASHION DESIGN & MARKETING

2. 2 YEAR DIPLOMA IN FASHION DESIGN & MARKETING

3. 1 YEAR DIPLOMA IN FASHION DESIGN

4. 1 YEAR DIPLOMA IN FASHION MERCHANDISING

The Scholarship Program gives the scholar the following privileges:

- the opportunity to study the entire program at no tuition cost

- undergo the SoFA mentorship program for his/her chosen field

- the chance to work for a designer/fashion company in its Internship Program

- opportunity to showcase their final collection/project at graduation

- the chance to get a job after graduation through SoFA’s Job Placement

The requirements for applying for the Scholarship program are as follows:

- Filipino citizen

- At least 16 years old

- Completed application form

- Personal Statement (Guide questions: 1. What brought about your passion for the fashion industry? 2. Why do you want a career in the fashion industry? 3. How do you foresee yourself contributing to the Philippine Fashion Industry? 4. What are your personal fashion career goals? 5. Why do you feel you deserve to be granted a scholarship?

- Diploma or transcript of records from highest educational attainment

- 2 letters of recommendation with contact information

- Creative Portfolio (no originals please)

(for Fashion Design applicants only)

PLS SUBMIT ALL COMPLETE REQUIREMENTS IN A SEALED BROWN ENVELOPE.

IMPORTANT:

1. ALL REQUIREMENTS SUBMITTED WILL NOT BE RETURNED TO APPLICANT AND WILL THUS BE CONSIDERED PROPERTY OF SoFA.

2. ONLY A MAXIMUM OF 2 SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED PER YEAR. HOWEVER, SoFA IS NOT REQUIRED TO AWARD YEARLY SCHOLARSHIPS IF NO CANDIDATE PROVES FIT.

It means that any submitted sketches or paintings will not be returned. So please scan or colored photocopy all submissions :)

Hello, a record of above average grades is always a great advantage. However, good grades is not the only determinant of being granted a scholarship. Since we are also a creative school, we will also be reviewing your level of creativity and potential.

Is it okay to be 16 when college comes but is not exactly 16 at the moment? This may be dumb questions but I just want to clarify. Also, another question is, does the letter of recommendation have to be someone within a fashion basis? Thanks! ;-)

hi, regarding the creative portfolio, do we have to submit real sketches that we made? how bout if I'm still not good at doing sketches or paintings, can we still apply for the fashion design course? I don't have any background regarding the course pa kasi :)

Good day!

You don't have to be 16 upon application as long as you will be turning 16 within the year or next few months.

For recommendation letter, they do not have to be in the fashion industry. They may be former teachers/mentors/superiors.

About the application form, we recommend that you drop by at SoFA to obtain a form together with your other requirements for scholarship.

I've been working as a fashion designer here in our place for 2 years now yet I do believe that having a educational background especially from a prestigious school like SOFA will really help me to boost my talents more... hi! I'm already 30 yrs.old ,do i have my chance to get your scholarship...i was born with my natural talent ,but it was too late for me to know that there's a program like this who gives opportunity to those who want to learned and enhance their talent..i already attain the 3rd year of my college apparently i did not finished becoz of my financial problem ...i was inquiring and then i search your program ..please notify me if you can accept....thank you!
